Armoured Train

The nation harbours a vast and impressive railway system, connecting the West to the East, and the urban, rural, and industrial centres all-alike. The sheer size of the country is what propelled the notion for a modernized rail system. The rails are an invaluable asset that they could even be considered the "veins" of the country and must be maintained at all costs. In order to improve the defensive capabilities, planners have devised the usage of armored trains which can provide anti-aircraft, artillery, and maintenance roles.

MBV-2 Design

The MBV-2 (Motorized Armored Wagon) is an armored train armed with dual-purpose armament intended for ground and anti-aircraft use. The base is equipped with three T-28 turrets armed with the 76.2mm KT-28 howitzer. There are several machine guns on-board, including a quadruple Maxim M1910/30 mount. The armor varied from 16mm-20mm on the sides, the command cupola, and the turrets, enough to stop rifle caliber bullets, while the roof was armored at 10mm. The whole machine weighs 80 tonnes including the ammunition and could reach 120km/h on its M17-T petrol engine.

Factory No. 183/Kharkiv Locomotive Factory will oversee the production of the trains and 5 are expected to be completed by 1934. These trains will primarily supplement the Sangvis Railroad Troops while also assisting the army if necessary.
